Connecting the Benefitfocus Community through Challenging Times

The last several months have taught us about flexibility, versatility and, perhaps most importantly, about what it means to be a part of a community.

At Benefitfocus, our community of employers, brokers, health plans and benefit providers has always been incredibly important to us, and we look forward to gathering together at events such as Health Plan Place, One Place and One Place Local. But what do we do when we can’t gather together in person? We adapt!

Last March, when it became clear that we couldn’t safely gather in Charleston, SC for One Place 2020, we quickly pivoted to a virtual event. As we’re making plans for 2021 – like many of you, we’ve wondered what is the best thing to do when there is so much uncertainty? After much thought, we’ve decided that One Place 2021 will again be a virtual event, scheduled for Tuesday, March 2 and Wednesday, March 3, 2021 – so mark your calendars now!

Our team is hard at work creating an agenda based on the topics you want to discuss and researching the best way to engage with you virtually. We’re committed to bringing you everything you love about One Place – just in the comfort of your own home or office. (And if you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear from you; just contact and an associate will be in touch.)

In our initial planning, we’ve talked with many of you, and we’ve realized that you don’t want to wait until One Place to gather virtually and engage in discussions around the challenges you are facing right now, so we’re excited to announce a new, interactive virtual series – One Place Now!

More than a traditional webinar, a One Place Now event will give you the opportunity to hear directly from your peers and industry experts and join the conversation through polls and Q&A. The sessions will provide actionable insight on topics such as the future of health care, total wellbeing and using data to drive decisions.

The first One Place Now event is scheduled for Thursday, August 20 from 1 - 1:45 p.m. ET and features Dr. Rubin Pillay, the assistant dean at the School of Medicine, and the chief innovation officer of the Health System at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During his session, Healthcare 3.0: How Technology is Driving the Transition to Prosumers, Platforms and Outsurance, Dr. Pillay will share his perspectives on resolving the cost, quality and access challenges that have plagued health care for the last few decades.
